Our Skip Chick 2009 results have been counted and verified, and we are pleased to announce the winner of our £250 cash prize is Sam Day, March’s Skip Chick. We rang Sam Day who was getting ready for a Christmas Party – she sent us over this rather dishy photo of herself and we had a good old catch up. We’ve got to admit it, we think the best woman won it!

Sam! Congratulations, how does it feel, being voted Best Skip Chick 2009 voted by the Great British Public?

Wow! I can’t believe it. There’s been some hot Chicks in the mag throughout the year, I’m flattered that I got the most votes!

Yes, well, you got 41% of the overall votes, so you won by a bit of a landslide. What are you doing now?

I’m getting ready for a Christmas party – I’m going as Wonder Woman – she’s my heroine. I’m also drinking a glass of bubbly just to get in the party mood.

What are you spending the cash prize on?

Well, I think it’ll fill a whole in my post-Christmas bank account quite nicely. January won’t be as tight as first imagined. I have a big family, so Christmas is normally a price event. Not that I mind, of course. I love buying my family presents. I’m pretty good at choosing what they’ll like.

And what does 2010 have planned?

Well, I’d like to go on holiday somewhere hot in the next few months with my boyfriend; I’m getting a bit fed up with the cold weather! Apart from that, working hard and playing hard – that’s what I’m good at!

Anything you want to say to The Skip Mag readers for the new year?

Well, have a great year, keep hard at it, we’ll hopefully see ourselves out of this recession and enjoying the fruits of our labour. And once again, thanks for those who voted. Can’t wait to see the new generation of Skip Hunks and Skip Chicks for 2010!

Cor blimey! Christmas has come early with this stunna. We nearly choked on our cornflakes when Kirsty from Solent, Hampshire sent this pic over to the Skip mag office.

Obviously there was mad scramble for the phone, but I got there first and gave her a tinkle (after composing myself, of course)

Kirsty! Where have you been all my life?!

“Hahaha – well, my name’s Kirsty, I live in Solent and I’m a part time model. I’m also doing a degree in psychology as well.”

Wow, beauty and brains! And how did you get hold of The Skip mag?

“My boyfriend Steve (Damn! Ed.) is a driver for a skip company and he’s always bringing home copies of the Skip magazine, we always have a laugh over the Skip Hunks and Skip Chicks. We thought it’d be funny to send in one of my modelling pictures!”

Well, he’s a lucky man, Kirsty. What else do you get up to?

“Well, I’m pretty busy with my job and my course, but I like running and cooking and hanging out with my mates and my very own Skip Hunk – Steve – of course!”

What do you have planned this Christmas?

“Me and Steve are going up to my parents in Aldershot, all my family will be there and Christmas at their house is always pretty mental. I’ve got a big family so Christmas shopping is going to be a mammoth task! On Boxing Day we’ll drive back down and see Steve’s family. It’s going to be a busy one.”

Any message to the Skip readers?

“Um, just have a great Christmas and a brilliant New Year. Hope I made a good Skip Chick hahahaha!”

The weather has been blowing a bit hot and cold recently and sensibly, July’s Skip Chick has covered up with a nice cardie.  Take a further look and you can see that her desk is pretty neat – a lot tidier than most of ours at Skip Mag Towers anyway. A tidy desk is a tidy mind, as they say. And this is one girl who is keeping her cards close to her chest, as we were soon to find out…

Hi Caumilla, unusual name! A mixture of Camilla and Cauliflower. Kind of. So tell us a little something about yourself.

“I like going out with my friends and partying.”

Well, who doesn’t Caummy, if I can call you that…tell us a bit about your job, what are the best things about it?

“Well, the usual things really. I like meeting new people everyday and of course, pay day. Haha!”

Ah, yes pay day…just a shame it’s only once a month, eh? So, I bet you have a few tales about the people who work at Centrol. Spill the beans, I love a good story.

“No story I’d be able to tell ya…”

C’mon, one tiny titbit…a snippet of goss….

“Nope.”

“My favourite bit about the magazine is the Garbage Guru column”

June 2009 gave us a Chick in an actual Skip. Nic from Stoke on Trent works for Cooper Skip Hire. No-one knows how she ended up in the skip and if she ever got out but we love all the more for it.

We’re an open-minded bunch here at The Skip, so we weren’t phased by the stubble or the Adam’s apple when we received this latest Skip Chick entry. However, we were rather concerned by the bride’s choice of gloves and undergarments for the big day. Not to mention the location! This is Stephanie (aka Stevie) from Buchanan Skip Hire, in Livingston.

Q. Hi Stephanie, please can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do? A. Hi there. I’m a JCB driver, working in the waste transfer station.

Q. So what do you enjoy most about working at Buchanans then? A. The people are the best part of my job – my workmates are great.

Q. Is this your normal attire then? It can’t be that easy to drive a JCB dressed up like Richard Branson? A. Well, I just saw the dress, and my partner and I hope to get married this year to Gemma.

Q. Wow, that sounds like a liberal arrangement! Presumably at least one of those two is the pants-wearer then! So what do you get up to outside of work then, Stephanie? A. I help look after my baby girl, Kasey, when I’m not working.

Q. Balancing motherhood with work is always a truly commendable achievement. So what do you and your colleagues think of The Skip mag? A. We all love The Skip magazine here at Buchanans.

Q. Woohoo! Finally, what’s the best thing you’ve ever seen in a skip? A. Most definitely my wedding dress! Well Stephanie, good luck to you and your partner in your triangular wedding to Gemma. Q. Hi Emily, please can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
A. Hi, I’m Emily Rice and I work for Bucks Recycling Ltd. I’m 29 – getting on a bit for a skip chick! I enjoy socialising with friends, going out to dinner and relaxing (when I get the chance).
Q. Age is no issue for us; if you score well on our highly sophisticated ‘Skip Chick-ometer’ (or Ant, as we call him), you claim your rightful place among these pages! So what do you enjoy most about working at Bucks Recycling, Emily?
A. I love talking to the customers, keeping busy and indulging in a good bit of banter with the lads (I give as good as I get!)
Q. And what do you like to do when you’re not working?
A. I love to relax with a nice bottle of wine or maybe a bit of snowboarding, if I’m in the mood.
Q. (Nigel, our health & safety expert, has asked me to make it clear at this point, that Emily’s two pathways to relaxation should never be pursued in combination!) So Emily, what do you like about The Skip mag?
A. I love the witty comments, and the overloaded skip pics are AWESOME!!!
Q. Great! What’s the most memorable thing you’ve ever seen in a skip?
A. I found some projector slides of broken bones from a retired doctor, which was pretty weird, but the best thing I’ve seen was my new coffee table!
Q. So, Christmas is upon us again, what do you hope Santa will bring you?
A. A new car please! And some diamonds (every girl loves diamonds!)
Q. (Dear Santa, we think you should maybe get Emily a crash helmet and some kneepads instead.) Thanks for being our Skip Chick, Emily. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers before you go?
A. Bucks Recycling is also run by a lady, never underestimate women in the skip world. These boobs will go far!

Our Skip Chick this month has many talents, which include pole dancing and rustling up fine snacks. What else do you need to know? Oh yeah, she’s also single. Basically, she’s perfect!
Q. Hi Laura, please can you tell us a little about yourself and what you do for the company?
A. I serve breakfast at Snackeads butty bar, which is in Majors Waste Transfer Station, Birkenhead.
I am 23 and single. I love going out dancing; twice a week, I go to pole dancing lessons (just for fitness).
Q. Okay, we’ll believe you! So what’s the best thing about feeding all those hard workers at Majors?
A. I like to have a crack with the lads. I also double as an agony aunt; if any of the younger men have girlfriend trouble, they come to me for advice. But the best thing of all is the fact that everybody goes away with a smile on their face.
Q. I bet they do – and not just because of the food. There’s nothing like a pole dancing Skip Chick to cheer up even the most miserable of folk! What do you like most about The Skip then, Laura?
A. The skip mag stays in the cafe and the girls compare the Hunk of the Month with the customers. As you can imagine, it boosts sales if the comparison is good.
Q. Let’s hope ‘Muff’ goes down well, then! Have you any parting words of wisdom for our readers?
A. When its cold and wet and the job’s gone to rats,
When the kids need new shoes and your all out of cash,

Look out, this month’s Skip Chick is a bit of a firey, moody sort. Mind you, who wouldn’t enjoy a good telling off from Sophie the skip temptress?? She keeps things in order at Brunswick Skip Hire, in Merseyside.
Q. Hi Sophie, please can you tell us a little about yourself and what you do for the company?
A. Well I’m 25 and in my long life I’ve flirted with several different careers – namely a stint as Mark Lawrenson’s moustache, which is actually what led me to the skip hire business. I’m sure you’re all aware that Mark is quite the skip collector – you should see his 10 yard! I’m generally involved in the company with selling our great quality skips to the wonderful citizens of the UK, and I’m also responsible for keeping all the boys in line at the yard!
Q. I bet they’re on their best behaviour when you’re around, not to mention Lawro! So what do you like best about working for the company?
A. 10 yards!
Q. Okay, we won’t ask you to elaborate on that – probably best left to interpretation. What do you get up to when you’re not working, then?
A. I like to watch the Everton with a nice can of Red Stripe and my boyfriend on my lap. During the inevitable summer footy drought I sit and wait patiently for the new season.
Q. Beer and footy? What a dream girlfriend! What’s the best thing you’ve ever seen in a skip then, Sophie?
A. Burt Reynolds

Q. Hi Trixie-sue, how do you do?
A. Very well thanks, how do you do?
Q. I’m great! (Wow, Skip Chicks never ask that. I could be in here…) You seem nice and cheery, can you tell us a little about yourself?
A. I’m 18 and have an active social life at uni – partying with the girlies, keeping fit and looking after my furry little friend FIFI! (That’s her dog)
Q. FIFI? Nice name. Speaking of names, yours isn’t one we hear everyday at The Skip?
A. Yeah, it’s pretty different. People don’t forget it! My dad used to be a country and western singer in the states so he insisted on the first part, and my mum’s called Sue so it’s sort of after her as well.
Q. Cool. How long have you been working at UK Skip Sales then? And what’s so great about it? It sounds a bit crazy in the background!
A. Yeah its great here. I’ve only been here a couple of months but I love it. I just work part time because of uni, but everyone is such a laugh – and a bit crazy like me!
Q. You certainly sound like a laugh! What’s your favourite part of The Skip?
A. The bottom! Ha-ha, only joking! I like ‘Skip Confidential’ at the back, and I really love trying to keep my mind ticking over with the crossword. I’ll win one of those cameras one day!!!!

Q. Hello Lindsay, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
A. Sex maniac ha-ha, don’t print that! (ok, we won’t) I’m 19 and have worked at Topskips for about a month now and am loving it. I used to work in a really old office but wanted to get out of there as it was so boring.
Q. Good to hear, So what’s so good about working at Topskips towers?
A. It’s a much livelier atmosphere – especially when we go out after work because everyone there’s a great laugh. I have so much fun with the people that work here, even if they do take the mickey out of me on a daily basis ha ha!
Q. He-he, so go on – why do they take the mickey out of you?
A. Well my nickname is ‘MasterCard’, like the adverts because I’m priceless; last week the guys convinced me into calling Chester zoo and asking for Mr. C Lyons who wanted a skip.
Q. So what do you like doing when you’re not calling zoos?
A. Wouldn’t you like to know! (well, yeah!) I like singing, dancing, going out and having a laugh. Love my weekends as I can really let my hair down.
Q. Bit of a party animal then, eh? What’s your favourite part of The Skip magazine then?
A. I have only read a few copies since being here as the guys have a few back issues I need to get through, but so far my favourite part of the mag has to be the Skip Hunks. I really love the ones with the beer bellies, don’t laugh, I do! I don’t know what it is about them!
