Scottish Skip Skull Scandal

Staff at Ayrshire-based skip company MCD Skip Hire were gobsmacked when a full 8 cu yd skip containing human remains were bought into their yard.

The incident happened on Tuesday 19^th May, when a driver had gone to pick up a load from a customer’s house in Ayr. When the skip was tipped, the box containing a human skull, a jaw bone and what appeared to be thigh bones fell out.

Director Lindsey Dempsie told The Skip, “When the load came in, we didn’t know what to do. We’ve had all sorts bought in, kittens, weapons, but this beats them all.”

“We contacted the woman who ordered the skip, and she told me that they belonged to her dad, now deceased, and didn’t have any more information. How they came to be is a complete mystery.”

Staff carried the bones into the office, where two phone numbers were called – the police and the newsdesk at The Skip magazine.

While the police have taken away the remains for further examination, the skip company is still shaken by the grisly find.

“It could be something really simply explainable,” Dempsie told us, “one of my thoughts was that it could be an anatomy dummy used for teaching medical students, but they are normally fibreglass, or plastic and a creamy colour. These were dark brown and felt like bone, they were the genuine article.

“The mind boggles as to how they ended up here and where the other parts of the skeleton are.”
