Britain’s Got Talent is Tipping in the Rain
When your son is on the front page of all the magazines (including The Skip!), the last thing you want is to be caught by the Old Bill flytipping.
Money and fame cannot buy you everything, which is certainly the case for the poor mother of Britain’s Got Talent winner, George Samson, who can’t even spend time organising some good old fashioned waste paper recycling.
Lesley Sampson whose son is famous for his breakbeat Singing in the Rain routine is said to be facing arrest after allegedly dumping 15 bags of the star’s fan mail on the street (Mmm, sacks of letters all addressed to a famous TV star who lives around the corner – not gonna be difficult to trace the culprit really, is it?).
According to the Daily Mail, a warrant has been issued for 40-year-old Lesley Sampson after she missed a scheduled court appearance. All because she couldn’t be bothered to find a bin.
She was accused of fly-tipping under the Environmental Protection Act.
The former classroom assistant had been expected to answer fly-tipping charges following claims that letters addressed to her son were abandoned outside the family home in Warrington.
As well as breaking the law, she will not be pleasing the fanbase that helped build George’s popularity by throwing away all their letters of adoration. (And with it being just paper waste, I could’ve probably done her a good deal on a 4 cubic yard midiskip – Ed).
A spokesman for Warrington Magistrates’ Court confirmed: “We sent a summons letter to both of her listed addresses, one in London and one in Warrington. She did not turn up for the hearing so the police have been informed.”A spokesman from Simon Cowell’s label SyCo, which represents George, rubbished the allegations.
Russell Eslamifar said: “Lesley has been living in London the past year. She was unaware of what happened in Warrington and hasn’t even got the [summons] letter yet.
“The ‘rubbish’ that is left outside her Warrington home is usually rummaged by fans and taken away by them.
“Lesley has not dumped any of the fans’ mail to George.”
The single mum failed to attend hearings on April 22 and May 27 this year.
John Holmes, prosecuting for Warrington Borough Council, said Mrs Sampson had not received the letter informing her of the first date.
He said: “Immediately before her first non-appearance we discovered she had moved to London.”
Simon Dunn, defending, said his client had then moved home again across London and she had not received the second set of papers either.
She will next appear in court in July. If convicted she could face a fine of several thousand pounds. Hopefully, her son might be able to help her out money-wise – keep up the body popping George!
